Welcome to Kitab. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Kitab iOS app and this website (together, the "Service"), provided by Alvaro Souza ("we", "us", "our"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
The Service
Kitab helps you build a reading habit by tracking reading sessions, pages read, focus time, and streaks, and by helping you reduce distractions while you read. Kitab is currently offered as a beta — features, availability, and behavior may change as we continue development.
Eligibility
Kitab requires iOS 17 or later. By using the Service, you confirm that you can form a binding contract and that you are not barred from using the Service under applicable law.
Beta Program
If you sign up for the Kitab beta via this website, you may receive early access to the app and occasional emails about its development. The beta is provided "as is" and may contain bugs, incomplete features, or change significantly before a public release.
Acceptable Use
- You agree not to misuse the Service, attempt to disrupt it, or access it using automated means without our permission.
- You agree not to reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except as permitted by law.
- You are responsible for the device and account security needed to use Kitab.
Intellectual Property
Kitab, including its design, branding, and underlying code, is owned by Alvaro Souza and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for your personal, non-commercial use.
Your Content
Reading data you create within Kitab (sessions, notes, progress, etc.) belongs to you. Since this data is stored on your device, you are responsible for backing it up.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Alvaro Souza shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date on this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
